二人が式を挙げたのは、1820年に建てられたハワイ諸島では最も古い歴史をもつ由緒ある教会でした。ハワイ産の天然素材（溶岩や珊瑚礁など）で造られていています。歴史の重みを感じる荘厳で素晴らしい教会でした。

Izumi and Makoto got married at the Mokuaikua church, the oldest and first founded Christian church in the state of Hawaii. It is made out of white coral cement, timber wood, lava rocks, and pandanus leaves. It was a very superb church with a powerful sense of history.

ハワイの人々には、愛情・歓迎・祝福の気持ちを分かちためにレイを贈り合う習慣があります。もともとは「魔除け」の目的で作られていたレイですが、現在では歓迎や祝福・愛情＝「アロハの精神」を象徴するものとして、広く親しまれています。

People in Hawaii exchange leis in order to express their love, welcome and blessings.
Leis used to be a charm against evil in ancient times, but nowadays are symbolic of the Aloha spirit: love, welcome and blessing.

式の後、二人の結婚を祝して日本伝統の祝いの儀式である「鏡割り」を行いました。

The kagamiwari is a Japanese traditional way of celebrating important events such as the New Year, weddings, or the opening of a new business. The Kagami refers to the circular lid of the sake cask that is broken open by the guests of honor using large wooden mallets. This ancient ritual is believed to bestow blessings of happiness, good health, and prosperity to all in attendance.

ケーキカットの後は、最初の一口を新郎新婦がお互いに食べさせあうアメリカ流の儀式「ファーストバイト」でお祝いしました。バイト(bite)とは英語で「かじる」の意味。食べ物を与え合うということで、お互いに養い合っていくという意味合いが込められています。

It is a ritual feeding each other a first bite of cake. This exchange of morsels represents your commitment to provide for each other.

ハワイ語では、亀のことを「HONU（ホヌ）」と呼びます。ハワイでは神様とも思われている亀。幸せ・長生きの象徴です。

Green sea turtles are called 'HONU' in Hawaiian. They are respected as God in Hawaii and also are symbols of happiness and longevity.

ハワイ島はコナコーヒーという世界有数のコーヒーの産地としても有名です。滞在中はちょうど収穫期にあたり、赤い実をつけたコーヒーの木をたくさん見かけました。

The Big island is famous for producing Kona coffee, one of the best coffees in the world.
It was harvest time while weﾕre staying there, so we saw a lot of red coffee beans of the coffee trees.

ハワイのローカル料理の代表的な一つで、ハワイ式どんぶり。ご飯の上にグレービーソースがかかったハンバーグと、その上に目玉焼き。

Loco Moco is a recipe unique to Hawaii. It is a mountainous meal consisting of a heap of white rice topped with a hamburger patty and a sunnyside-up egg, then smothered in gravy.

これもハワイの代表的なローカルフード。焼いたスパムの薄切りとご飯を海苔で巻いたオムスビです。

Spam Omusubi is also a local food of Hawaii. It is consisting of a strip of cooked Spam sitting on a block of rice and held in place by a sushi-style seaweed girdle, is a popular breakfast food and lunchtime or picnic snack.
